A recent research
object : Rural Fukei (scenery), Farmer
public entertainments
The short history of
my research objects is as following: I have researched by
using the technique of the econometrics. The economical
repercussion effect of the agricultural policy and the demand for the
agricultural products are major targets. As for me, economic
analysis did agriculture and an environmental problem. There is elevation
of the social interest in the environmental problem after the 1990's in that
background. Research objects are supposed the aggregate of
the person who does homogeneous rational behavior in the usual economics. Because
of that, a smart explanation and interpretation are possible. But,
what do you do if “you” are an entrepreneur ? Maybe a person says “I will reduce environmental load even if I cut
down profits a little because I want to take care of an environment.” And
another person says “A life is making money. Environment doesn't matter.”
Do you throw such a
difference away, and don't feel a doubt with investigating smartness? This
is a kind of paradigm shift in the point of view of science. It
is a usual point of view to discover law with observing a research object from
bird view. My interest is including “myself” into the
inside of the analysis object. If it is expressed with a
difficult word, the former view point called dualism, the latter are called
monism.
Research on Rural Fukei (scenery)
It was research on
rural fukei (scenery) that became the opportunity which my point of view
reached such a paradigm shift. It is general with evaluation
of the economical value of the farm village scenery to estimate the amount of
money of “Willingness to pay, ○○ yen” by using CVM and so on. But,
actual scenery is different from the photograph, and not only it is caught
visually but also it is caught sensuously through the five senses. Furthermore,
it isn't confined to the way of catching it “It is beautiful.”, and it can
think about the way of recognizing it to see a landscape with calling the
emotion which influences the experience of the past, present like “It is
familiar.” “A mind feels at ease.”, too. It can be said that
the life (concerning life, element) of the people of the farmer is included
except for the element such as the history, cultural factor, concerning the
nature taken seriously in the rural landscape from such a viewpoint. Tohoku
University graduate school of engineering architecture and I carried out joint
research by the idea like this. We developed an investigation
system about the farm village landscape which a personal computer was used for. It
investigated for the university student in Japan and South Korea. It
found that the farm village experience of the childhood influenced the
evaluation of the rural fukei (scenery) greatly. But, the diagram of
the farm village = parents' house is stopping coming into being due to the high
economic growth after 1950. This can be read from the
change in the words of the Japanese popular song (J-pops) as well. In
other words, the person of the city is that a farm village experience can't be
done any more in the childhood. Still a farm village
exists on one side. An area like this is compared
with an urban area, and the progress of a decrease in population is remarkable,
and causes the trouble that the devastation of the cropland and the forest is
serious. At present, the person who born in the city, and grew
up in the city can't image a farm village any more, and they are the conditions
which a farm village can't be evaluated as any more. So, the source of
“reaction process” to feel rural fukei (scenery) “It is beautiful.” “It is
familiar.” “A mind feels at ease.” was decided to be investigated.
Research into the traditional performing arts of the
farm village
Agriculture, the Noh
play of the traditional performing arts and brain are the same pronunciation “Nou”
in Japanese by chance. We can say that “what can be
seen” is “the output” which very much management is given to by the brain. What
kind of management is a brain carrying out when a person has the landscape of
the farm village as to the sight? I don't know it well
because I am not a specialist. But, it guesses that another
management besides the usual sight management is probably being carried out. Well,
what is he associating when a person with no farm village experience faces
rural fukei (scenery) and sympathy movement of “feel good” such as “It is
beautiful.” is made to be expressed? That must be
“narrative” to jump over the difference in the time and space if there are
articles which a city resident with no farm village experience and a farm
village resident share. Though it becomes a little
suspicious, spiritual existence such as God and an ancestor may be equal to
that. A farmer as a life person goes through the stage
(drama), and the traditional performing arts being carried out as a dedication
in the rural region is “the place (yard)” which touches God. Argument
whether God exists is left by the side. What kind of
narrative is a life person taught through the public entertainments from God? Temporarily,
if that exceeds space-time and it is succeeded to even by a city inhabitant,
that may be the source of the Japanese identity.
Kurokawa Noh play
and Kuromori kabuki are investigated for Yamagata Prefecture Shonai area from
such a point of view for a while. The protocol
analysis which made a local resident (the successor of the traditional arts)
and a city inhabitant or the foreigner of the overseas residence a testee will
be enforced.
