Welcome to our laboratory!

We started our laboratory April, 2004 with new group members. Our major interest is in the chemistry and pharmacology of natural products.

Especially, we are studying on natural toxins from the marine animals and organisms. 

 

Current research projects:

1. Tetrodotoxin (puffer fish toxin): Origin, Biosynthesis, Natural analogues, Analytical methods (LC/MS), Binding model to Na+ channel, Binding protein in puffer fish, Resistant systems against toxins, Metabolism.

2. Okadaic acid : Binding proteins from the sponge Halichondria okadai  

3. Paralytic shellfish poisoning (Saxitoxin analogues): Biosynthesis, Analytical methods, Dynamics

4. Amnesic shellfish poisoning (Domoic acids): Biosynthesis, Natural analogues

5. Electrophysiological study of mode of action of bioactive Natural Products.

6. Seaweed toxins (polycavernoside A) :  Isolation and the structures of congeners, Origin, Analytical methods, Pharmacology

7. Bioactive compounds from marine animals : isolation, structure elucidation and biological activities of the novel compounds.

8. Toxins from amphibians : tetrodotoxin and its congeners, and zetekitoxin (an analogue of saxitoxin)
