Research Projects
  1. Comparative study on Agri-environmental policies

Agricultural production in harmony with the global and local environments is essential for promoting carbon neutrality and biodiversity conservation. We are conducting research from a comparative approach to find out what policy measures are being taken in the world and what restrictions are being faced to promote low-input and circular agricultural production.

  2. Comparative study on development and innovation of organic agriculture

“Strategy for Sustainable Food Systems” launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in May 2021 set a goal to raise the ratio of organic farming to 25% of the cultivated land area by 2050. It does not reach 1% in Japan, but most European countries reach a few percent at least, some reaches more than twenty percent. By comparing and analyzing the processes of organic farming development and innovation system in Europe, we are engaged in research that contributes to institutional design for the leap of organic farming in Japan.
