Research Projects
  1. Staphylococcus aureus brings serious damage  the as the pathogens with nosocomial infection as MRSA, and also the cow mastitis in the livestock. β-barrel forming toxins (β-PFTs) are one of the main pathogenic factors of S. aureus and are “a weapon” for infection to destroy a white blood cell and a red blood cell as a target mainly. Since the discovery of the toxin gene with our study group, we are investigating to elucidate the mode of action mechanism of the toxin. We also work on the analysis of bacteriophages involving in the horizontal transfer of the pathogenic genes.
  2. Selenomonas ruminantium is anaerobic ruminal bacterium which utilise lactic acid as a carbon source, and plays an important role about the health maintenance of the domestic animal as an opposition factor of rumen acidosis.
We are investigating the physiology of this bacterium by the post-genomic approaches
