The AMB logo was designed by 4th-year AMB student Chotinan Nitikitpaiboon “Gig” to represents three main elements of the program: Marine Biology, Tohoku University and Japan. Fish, jellyfish and seaweed illustrate the breadth of marine organisms covered in the program. Leaves framing the logo depict Tohoku University’s iconic plant Hagi (bush clover). Inset waves mimic those in Japanese “ukioy-e”, a genre of traditional paintings recognized worldwide as a symbol of Japan.
